Hostel Manager

Heyday Hostel is a newly constructed hostel in Ballina, County Mayo. The 38-bed unit offers a mix of accommodation and is set to open in June 2023. We are now seeking a manager for this exciting new venture.

The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic and be committed to providing an excellent level of customer service. The successful candidate should ideally have 3+ years’ experience in the hospitality sector. The manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the hostel. This will involve ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the hostel and the provision of a high-quality offering to Heyday guests.

Hostel Manager Role:

Customer Engagement

1.     Ensuring the customer experience is what we expect from Heyday – friendly, helpful, consistent, accurate, fun, safe, positive & energetic.

2.     Working with partners to give our guests a best-in-class experience in our locality.

3.     Monitoring customer feedback and developing an action plan for constant improvement.

4.     Working with a broad range of customers.

Financial

5.     Responsible for overall management of the hostel including front desk, operations, maintenance, housekeeping, food & beverage services, and reservation services.

6.     Responsible for delivery of the annual financial budget and agreed weekly metrics.

Operational

7.     Recruitment & retention of staff, including training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all staff members and contractors in their given area.

8.     Coordinating with vendors to arrange for products and services such as linens, food and beverage supplies, and equipment repairs when necessary.

9.     Monitoring occupancy rates to ensure that rooms are rented at optimal times to maximize revenue.

10.     Weekly meetings with management to review bookings, capacity, staffing plan, customer feedback and maintenance of standards.

Business Development

11.      Working with management on the following areas in particular:

a.     Ensuring Heyday is consistently meeting its bed night targets, third party tourism package sales and continually building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the tourism community.

b.     Maintaining a close eye on existing and emerging tourism and activity providers to ensure we offer our guests as many options as possible that make commercial sense.

c.      Developing marketing plans to promote the hostel to potential customers using a variety of methods such as social media, print advertisements, and word of mouth.
