Nora Shiels R.I.P.

Nora Shiels lectured in Shannon College of Hotel Management from 1973 to 2001. In addition to her role as lecturer, she was student Accommodation Supervisor and a mentor to many.

So many alumni have memories of Nora whilst they were students – she was a legendary woman who gave so much of her life to #SCHM. When she died in January, so many alumni shared their memories of her on the Alumni Facebook page – she really left an impact on so many students.

On April 16th, we held a Mass in Nora’s memory and had a reception in the college for former colleagues, family and alumni. It was a very special morning where we all shared our memories of Nora with each other and Nora’s nieces who attended. The SCHM Nora was a very different woman to the fun Aunt Nora that they remember so fondly! See photos below of this lovely morning.
