Assistant Events Manager

As the Assistant Events Manager at The Merrion, you will support the Events Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of events including corporate functions, weddings, social gatherings, groups and high-profile VIP engagements. You will liaise with clients and internal departments to ensure the highest standards of service and hospitality are upheld, consistent with the hotel’s brand and reputation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the end-to-end planning and execution of events held at The Merrion.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their vision, expectations, and requirements.
  • Prepare proposals, event orders, contracts, and floor plans in coordination with the Events Manager.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (F&B, Kitchen, Housekeeping, AV, Front Office, Security) to ensure all event needs are met.
  • Support on-site event execution, including setup, guest coordination, troubleshooting, and post-event wrap-up.
  • Supervise and brief event staff before and during events to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain detailed records of event logistics, budgets, and feedback.
  • Conduct site visits with prospective clients.
  • Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction by ensuring personalized service and rapid resolution of issues.
  • Ensure all events comply with health, safety, and legal regulations.

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in hotels, events or banquet coordination within the luxury or hospitality industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service.
  • Proficiency in event software (e.g. Opera) is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Impeccable grooming and presentation in line with luxury hospitality standards.
