Class of 1975 -Golden Jubilee…Congratulations!

Henry Anderson, David Wilkinson and Paula Lynch put a lot of effort and planning into celebrating the 50th Anniversary of their class. Henry has written the few words below.

On Wednesday October 8th, it all started with a hospitality experience in Adare Manor…a quite remarkable affair where  we immersed ourselves in the delights of this truly Magnificent Manor hotel and were looked after so well by alumni Philomena O’Donovan and Fiona Byrne.

Thursday gave us the chance to Reminisce in the College over lunch. We were royally entertained by the New recruits….the students today are so impressive!  Other big moments were the presentation of gifts and accolades in the theatre Hall…where We renewed our Vows from the Enrolment of the Class in 1971. We remembered fondly our Fallen Soldiers who were not present and made presentations in their honor to their family who attended.

And yes, there was a pit stop in Durty Nellies to further arouse the lurking passions of yesteryear!

50 Years and still upright is quite an accomplishment. We are eternally grateful for the Shannon Years. For those who Help us ‘Keep the Contact’, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation.

On Thursday 9th October the Class of 1975 celebrated a glorious Gala Blacktie  Dinner in the Dunraven hotel in Adare – an occasion blessed with an abundance of flair, pace, humour and style…and a culinary journey through the unique landscape of Irish food with a seasonal menu designed by the Murphy Family…wonderful!

Our Five day Odyssey  culminated in one more Get together in the Intercontinental Hotel Dublin for the Alumni Ball where we hijacked the stage and said our few words,

We have so many people to thank…but a few ,and in no particular order..

Brendan O’Connor (Adare Manor),Adrian Sylver (Dead of School), Shannon College, Louis Murphy (The Dunraven), Alumni President James Enright and the indomitable Tracy Hegarty.

We are proud of Shannon College of Hotel Management and long may she provide the Joy and Happiness for the Class of 1975 and Generations to come.
