What college memory still makes you smile?

Falling in love. Friendships.

If you had to re-live your time in Shannon College, would you do anything differently?

Study harder. Stay more connected to my class mates.

What advice would you give to your 20 year old self?

Get the balance right between working hard and playing hard. Have a career plan. I didn’t have one I was just good at taking opportunities.

In your life, what achievement are you most proud of?

My children.

What qualities do you think are most important to have for a rewarding career?

Having rapport and empathy with people. Being curious. Having an open mindset. Always learning.

What has been the biggest challenge you have faced during Covid-19?

Not being able to spend time with my parents at a time when they really needed help and support.

Do you have words of wisdom that you try to live by?

Make the most of all experiences, there will be good times and challenging times, adopt a mindset of learning from both. In C-19 I made a decision to live in the moment taking each day at a time and it has really helped me to be mindful and calm.

What advice do you have for current SCHM students who are looking for inspiration and hope?

There will be better days ahead. After the Spainish flu in 1918 came the roaring twenties- imagine what fun lies ahead.
